RedIRIS is the Spanish academic and research network that provides advanced communications services to the national scientific and academic community. The REDIRIS technical conferences are organized annually, whose 2017 edition was held in Santander. In these days any of its members can participate and send their presentation proposal. In this edition, several topics were proposed:
- ICT in Education and Research
- Efficient use of resources and their optimization
- Infrastructures and support services
- Smart Campus and Smart Cities
In this congress I had the opportunity to present the FESTIVAL project and the platform developed to access homogeneously the federated intercontinental testbeds from Europe and Japan. The platform follows an “Experimentation as a Service” approach and provides two ways to access the testbeds: through an user-friendly web interface and a REST API. Such tools enabled the platform users to reserve very different resources, such as IoT devices, Living Labs, open datasets and virtual machines.
